From "The Kentucky Post," Jul 16 2001: Charlene Hitch Powell, 53, of Covington, died at 12:24 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired music teacher at Summitt Middle School, Independence, and a member of True Vine Praise and Worship Fellowship, Independence, and the Northern Kentucky and Kentucky education associations. Survivors include sons, Steve Powell of Union, Chris Powell of Covington and Gary Powell of Fort Mitchell; a brother, Richard Edgar Hitch Jr. of Calhoun, Ga.; sisters, Janice Heeger of Covington, Dianna Glaser of Independence, Karen Irvin of Cincinnati and Faith Holmberg of Monroe, Mich.; and four grandchildren. Services will be at noon Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
