June Court 1728 Somerset County, MD: His Lordship
@ Mary Hopkins Information given to the grand Jury by Maj.r Planner that Mary Hopkins servant woman of John Tilers Sen.r having a bastard Child about the first of March Living in Coventry parish Information given by Jno Evans smiths Island -Adam Heatch (Hitch) foreman

Thereupon Command was given to the Sherr of Somersett County that he should take the said Mary Hopkins if &.c to answer &.c and afterwards in the Same Court Came the said Mary Hopkins in Custody of the Sherr and being by the Said Sherr Putt to the barr is thereupon Instantly demanded how she would acquitt herselfe of the primisses afd saith that of the premisses afd she is Guilty thereof and putts herselfe in mercy of the Lord proprietary but hath not wherewith all to pay her fine for the fact afd Whereupon it is Considered by the Court here that the afd Mary Hopkins be whipt with fifteen Lashes on the bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear and that she be taken &.c And thereupon as to the Corporall Punishmt afd Command is given to the sher of Somersett County that he do thereof Immediately Execution according to the Judgm.t afd rendered by whiping of the afd Mary Hopkins at the publick whiping Post with fifteen Lashes on the bare back well Laid on untill the Blood appear and afterwards in the Same Court the said Sher returns that he has done the Execution of the Judgmt afd as to the Corporall punishmt afd he was Commanded Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court that the afd Mary Hopkins return to her Masters Service and that Jno Tyler her Master at the Expiration of her Servitude Return her to Somersett County Court or the Sher of Said County to Reemburst to the County all the fees due by occasion of the premisses afd &c (SoJ-1727/30:96)

John made a will on Nov 20 1752 and it was proven Mar 6 1758 at Somerset Co, MD. In his will John Evans gave to wife Arrabella (Executor) lands during widowhood, then to son John the plantation were I live, 200 acres. To son Nathan 100 acres, tract North End, after death to grandson Thomas Evans (under 21). To Solomon Evans, Richard Evans, Tabitha Parks, Comfort Mister, Leah Evans, Rachel Evans & Ann Crockett. John married Arabella Turnall, daughter of Thomas Turnall and Ann Adkins, about 1718.1 (Arabella Turnall was born about 1695 in Accomack Co., VA and died after 1759.)
