1 July 1874 Death of an Old Defender, Mr. John E. Pollitt, a defender of Baltimore 1812-1814, died at his late residence, Chatsworth Street, yesterday at the 87th year of his age. His remains will be taken to Salisbury, Wicomico Co., this morning for interment. -Baltimore Sun
Mr. Pollitt's remains were buried at the Presbyterian Church in this place at 4 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, Rev. J. J. Smyth officiating clergyman. Mr. Pollitt was the last survivor of a circle of aged men who have lived in this section for nearly a century, several of whom have died within this last decade. (This transcribed and provided by L.
