In 1798, Jonathan Pollitt Sr. was owner/occupant of property in Wicomico Hundred adjoining Hannah Polk and James Pollitt with an old barn 24x20, log shop 16x12, 2 round pole corn houses 16x6, 197 acres, 80 perches assessed $410. He owns 7 slaves of which 2 are taxable age of 12-50. (Somerset Direct Tax of 1798)
Jonathan Pollitt Sr. wrote his will on May 9 1806 and it was probated Jul 1 1806: - To wife Mary, land "Long Ridge" where I now live and 50a "Tamarunes Ridge", and 21.25a out of a resurvey of "Tamarunes Ridge", it being a total of about 200a during her widowhood, but will fall to sons John, Jonathan and Stephen Pollitt equally divided if she stands against the will. After her decease, these lands to go to daughter Peggy Rencher Hayman - To beloved wife Mary, one negro woman Jane and her increase and negro boy George, negro girl Gatta, negro man Jacob, one gray mare and all the meat and corn in the house - To daughter Peggy Rencher Hayman, negro girl Susan - To grandchildren Eliab Beard, Mary Beard, negro boy Harry equally divided - To grandson William Chattam, negro girl Leah - To son Jonathan, negro man Thomas and all my blacksmith tools - To Sarah Davis, d/o Stephen Reddin dec'd, ten pounds in cash - one-third part of moveable estate to wife Mary during her widowhood, then one-third to son Jonathan, one-third to grandchildren David Pollitt and Lucrese Pollitt and last third to grandchildren Eliab Beard and Mary Beard Witnesses: Thomas Pollitt, Jacob Morris, Nancy Willis (SoW-EB23:103)
