James Robe (J.R.) McGrath III 1
James R. "J.R." McGrath, III 76, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Born on September 11, 1941 in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late Howard and Katie Shockley McGrath. J.R. attended schools in Snow Hill. He was employed as a Produce Manager for Safeway, from where he retired from after 33 years of service. Farming was J.R.'s life. In addition, he was an avid deer hunter, and fisherman. J.R. enjoyed restoring antiques, shooting Skeet, and Sports specifically Baseball, Basketball and Soccer. He was a member of the American Kennel Club, Beagle Club and a lifetime member of the Redmann's Lodge in Fruitland. J.R. is survived by two daughters, Candi Groton and Wendi Mills and her husband Robert; his significant other, Gail Tarr; three grandsons, Howard "Buddy Boy" Jarrett Jr. and his finance' Jenna, James Jarrett, and Ron Groton, III; a granddaughter, Peyten Groton; two great-granddaughters, MaKenzie Clark, and Rylee Jarrett; three Great-grandsons, Jayden Jarrett, Logan Jarrett, and Luke Jarrett; as well as several cousins. In addition to his parents, J.R. is preceded in death by his wife, Becky McGrath, who passed away on June 15, 1992. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. John's United Methodist Cemetery in Fruitland, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. John's United Methodist Church or the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church. James married Rebecca Ann (Becky) Malone, daughter of Avery Mack Malone and Helen C. White. (Rebecca Ann (Becky) Malone was born on 24 Aug 1944 in Wicomico Co., MD, died on 15 Jun 1992 in Wicomico Co., MD and was buried about 18 Jun 1992 in St. John's Methodist Church Cemetery, Fruitland, Wicomico Co., MD.) |
