Charles Thomas McGrath
Eden-Charles Thomas McGrath, 75, of Eden, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his home. Born on July 10, 1941 he was son of the late Arlie Purnell McGrath and Florence Hitch McGrath. Charles served in the National Guard for 6 years. He was employed by Somerset County Soil Conservation and later Worcester County Roads as a heavy equipment operator for 28 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, horses, rabbit hunting and beagles. He found pleasure in the simple, quiet pleasures in life.
He is survived by his wife of nine years, Grace Miller McGrath; a daughter, Beth Cooper and her husband Stuart of Bishopville, MD; a step daughter, Danielle Miller Cox and her husband Rodney of Hurlock, MD and step-son, Corey Miller of Salisbury, MD; five grandchildren, Rachel Cox, Tyler Cox, Leah Miller, Lily Miller and Hope Miller and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Grace. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Jackson and her husband Bob of Snow Hill, MD; an aunt, Lena Bowen and her husband Dick; two uncles, Walter and James Hitch all of Salisbury; sisters-in-law, Alice Gordy, Anna Gordy, Lura Adkins and Mary Chase and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Louise Gordy McGrath; and brothers-in-law, Richard Gordy, Paul Gordy & Lloyd Adkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Lou Bradley will officiate and be assisted by Bruce Bowden. Burial will be held in Olivet Cemetery.
Charles married Louise Gordy. (Louise Gordy died before 2016.)
Charles next married Grace Miller in 2007.
