VIRGINIA ANN HITCH married Wesley Roy Nelson in Everett, WA June 25, 1954. Wes was born in Williston, ND June 3, 1933. They met in the 2nd grade and grew up in the same neighborhood. They both graduated from Everett High School. Wes went to the University of Washington on a sports scholarship, and Virginia went to Western Washington College of Education in Bellingham, WA. She planned to become a Home Economics Teacher.

Wes was drafted into the Army in Dec. 1954. He was sent to Germany and Virginia followed him 3 months later. They lived with a German family and their first son was born there. Upon returning home Wes went to work for the West Coast Telephone Co. He then signed with the Chicago Bears Football Team and played one season. He returned to Everett making his home in the Silver Lake area for 27 years. He went back to work at the phone company.

Before retiring Wes wanted to do one last big project - he built a large log home on some acreage in Marysville, WA and is currently living there. With Virginia's love of animals they have 2 pygmy goats (Willlie Nelson & Waylon), a pot bellied pig (Henry Bacon), a dog, 3 stray cats, and anything else that stops by for a meal. They designed the house with quarters for Tillie. It has worked out great for all of them - they share housework and yard work.

After the boys graduated, Virginia went back to college to get a degree. Virginia is involved with her grandchildren (babysits 3 of them every day), reading, knitting, teaching painting, crafts, and sewing fills up her days and evenings. Virginia and her Mom spend a lot of time on craft work and are very talented, making some beautiful things. They sell most of their work at local bazaars. Wes got his wish last year when he and Keith found a 1936 Ford Coupe fully restored. They will put a rumble seat in it for the grandchildren. Wes spends his spare time in the heated garage with it.
