Martha Brewington

In the Princess Anne newspaper, Village Herald, there was an article in the edition of Oct 18 1831 regarding the Chancery Court case of Scott Brereton versus Martha Hitch and Rhoda & John Brereton, administrators of Elizabeth Flake. Martha Hitch indicated as a sister in the will of Rhoda Brereton (Brewington) written Jun 28 1833 and probated in Somerset County Jul 10 1833. She also lists brother John and Uncle Scott Brereton. Witnesses were William Whayland and Eleanor P. Stanford. (SoW Index 1820/37:223)

Martha married Robert Hitch, son of Benjamin Hitch and Mary Brown, on 15 Dec 1824 in Somerset Co., MD. (Robert Hitch was born about 1778 in MD and died 15 Dec 1824-09 Jan 1827 in Somerset Co., MD.)
