John Duvall wrote his will on Apr 14 1858 and it was probated May 25 1858 in MOntgomery Co., MD
- All my real estate to my four grandsons John G., Cecilius B., William F. and Joseph J. Duvall and my three grandaughters Summerville, Louisa R. and Valier Duvall.
- From this, I except a home for my son Grrafton and his wife Harriett who shall enjoy in common with the benefit of their children - prperty not to be sold until the youngest son reaches age 21
- To the four grandsons named above, my negro boy Gabriel to serve until he reaches age 35 then he to be free, negro boy Thomas until he reaches age 40, negro girl Mariah until she reaches age 16, then they to be free
- Negro women Nelly and Eliza to be free at my decease
- Appointed much esteemed nephew John S. Duvall, son of my brother Hammon Duvall to be executor
