James Milton Dykes

OBITUARY: Milton J. Dykes - Salisbury - Milton J. Dykes Sr., 82, of Route 1 here, died Thursday in Peninsula General Hospital Medical Center of respiratory arrest. Born in Maryland, he was a son of the late James Wesley and Priscilla Ruark Dykes. He was a member and deacon of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church here and a member of Tomahawk Tribe 87 of the Red Men and of the Degree of Pocahontas, both in Capeville, Va. Surviving are his wife, Pearl Hamilton Dykes; two sons, Milton J. Dykes Jr. and Marvin Dykes, Salisbury; two grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Layfield, Fruitland, and Maude Townsend, Salisbury; a brother, Austin Dykes, Fruitland, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Holloway Funeral Home. A sister Annie Ruark died 1980. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. James Davis, who will be assisted by the Rev. Gary Hawkins. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Contributions may be made in the memory of the deceased to the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Dykes Road, Salisbury, Md. 21801.
