On Dec 13 1814, Thomas Byrd, Sr. was appointed guardian to Sarah Catherine (sic, Sarah Cathell?)and Elijah Hitch. Sureties were given by Thomas Humphries and William White "(of Thomas)" (SoOCP-1811/23:48)

Hitch in 1827 and the taking of the 1830 Federal Census for Genessee County. In the Federal Census of 1830, Elijah Hitch is listed in a household in Warsaw, Genessee County, New York (page 294) with one male age 30-40, two females age 0-5 and two females age 20-30. He was near the household of Nicholas Reddish, also of Somerset Co., MD and probable brother of Sarah (Reddish) Jones who married John Jones.
Elijah married Ann R. Jones, daughter of John Jones Sr. and Sarah Reddish, about 1825. (Ann R. Jones was born on 11 Apr 1805 in Mt. Vernon, Somerset Co., MD,3 4 5 6 died on 08 Apr 1890 in Genesee Co., NY and was buried about 11 Apr 1890 in Fairview Cemetery, Pavilion, Genesee Co., NY.)
