Hitch, Dr. Robert Lee Harvey County Independent Dr. Robert Lee Hitch, 82, Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Burrton, died Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at a local care center in Kerrville. He was born July 10. 1914 in East Sweetwater, Monroe County, Tennessee, the son of Luttrell M. and Ruby Johnson Hitch. He lived in Cochise County, Arizona and Burrton. He was adopted by Inez McFall Hitch. He graduated from Burrton High School in 1933 and earned his bachelor of science degree in busisness from Pittsburg State University in 1937. He was editor of the yearbook, president of student council and his class. He earned his master's degree in business education in 1941 from Colorado State University, Greely, Colorado, and a doctorate from the University of Wyoming in 1954. He was a career business editor who taught in Kingman, Iola, Fulton, Missosuri, Jacksonville, Illinois, University of Wyoming, Laramie Wyoming and retired in 1977 from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Kerrville, Texas since 1979, was a vestryman in the Episcopal churches in Wyoming, Michigan and St. Peters, Kerryville, Texas. He served six years on the Michigan Education association Board of Directors and belongs to numerous professional organizations. He received the Bishop's Service Cross while senior warden in Michigan, former member of the Rotary Club of Big Rapids, Michigan and Kerrville Rotary Club. On June 9, 1940, he married Helen Churchward at Wichita. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Stephen Hitch, Green Bay, Wisconsin; Thomas Hitch, Columbus, Ohio; and Charles Hitch, Grosse Pointe, Michigan; daughter, Margaret Siemiantkowski, West Bloomfield, Michigan; brother, Evan Hitch, Great Bend; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Memorial serviced was Monday, February 17 at Kerrville, Texas. Burial was to be in Burrton Township City Cemetery, Burrton, Kansas
