Harold Wilson Unruh Age 84. Of Kennett Square, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE. Died Thursday, July 15, 1999 at Gila, NM. Mr. Unruh was a member of Unionville Presbyterian Church and an elder of the church since 1988. He was born February 15, 1915 in Bridgeville, DE to the late Georgianna Guild and Joseph Lee Unruh. A graduate of Wilmington High School and Goldey Beacom College, Mr. Unruh was employed for 44 years at E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Company in Wilmington, DE, where he retired as Director of Administrative Services. In 1933, he was the first secretary of the State Welfare Home in Smyrna, DE.
During his lifetime he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, the National Office Managers Association, the Board of Directors of the Wilmington Music Society and served as President and Treasurer of the International Y's Men's Club of Wilmington. Mr. Unruh is survived by his wife, Maude Elliott Unruh, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage; 5 daughters, Sharon V. Haney, Gwynne A. Unruh, Jennifer U. Walls, Gretchen A. Jeannette, and Lorna J. Allen; 2 sons, Timothy L. Unruh and Mark E. Unruh; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Tucker, Amy Tucker, Christopher Unruh, Genevieve Leiper, Tierna Unruh-Enos, Melanie Unruh, Nicole Unruh-Enos and Geoffrey Walls; his sister, Elizabeth U. Davis; and his brother, F. Ralston Unruh.
Harold married Maude Virginia Elliott, daughter of Arthur Lee Elliott and Helen May Shiles, on 05 Sep 1936 in Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE.1 (Maude Virginia Elliott was born on 27 Nov 1915 in Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE,3 died on 17 Apr 2002 in Paoli, Chester Co., PA and was buried about 20 Apr 2002 in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE.)
