Richard INGERSOLL
In 1798, Richard Ingersoll owned 155a of land three miles up from the mouth and on the south side of the Wicomico River in Wicomico Hundred of Somerset Co., MD, adjoining the land of Thomas Rencher. He had 3 slaves, one of which was under age 12. His house was 32x18 of wood with an ell of 14x6, one story, and 11 windows. The house was seen as "damaged by the worm." He had a separate kitchen 12x12, smokehouse of round logs 10x11 valued at $80. (Federal Direct Tax of Somerset - 1798) Richard married Elizabeth ROBERTS?. |
