Margaret Shiles Walker, 90

SMYRNA - Margaret Shiles Walker of Smyrna died quietly in her home Monday, July 9, 2001. She was 90. Mrs. Walker was born July 16, 1910, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Harry T. Shiles and Jeannette (Wentzel) Shiles. She raised in Wilmington. After her husband retired from the DuPont Co., they moved to the Dover area, finally settling near Smyrna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard A. Walker, in April of 1995. She is survived by a sister, Estelle Gooden of Aiken, S.C.; a nephew, George W. "Boots" Grandel Jr. of Wilmington and a friend and caretaker, Walter Connell of Smyrna and many nephews and nieces. Services will be 11:45 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family suggests contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 DuPont Highway, Dover DE 19901. Arrangements by the McCrery Funeral Home.
