The following is the obituary of Florence (Brintlinger) Hitch as sent to me by Darla (Hitch) Trenner (It is from a Hall Co., Nebraska newspaper of 1929):

MRS. FLORENCE HITCH SUMMONED TO REST

Succumbs Following an Operation Two Weeks Previously. _____

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Hitch, who died at a Grand Island hospital Friday morning, May 24, were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon and were attended by a large number of her friends and relatives. Rev. A. L. Kellogg was in charge and interment was made in Cedar View Cemetery. A large number of floral tributes testified to the number of friends who mourn her going.

Her death came unexpectedly Friday morning. She had undergone an operation two weeks previously and although her recovery had been slow, she was believed to be on the way to recovery until a short time before her death.

Mrs. Hitch is entitled to be remembered as one of the outstandingly heroic mothers of the community. Her husband, Frank Hitch, died in 1919, and by willing and conscientious labor, she managed to keep her family together. Only one son, Bobby, remains at home.

Florence Brintlinger was born July 30, 1874, at the family home near Ashville, Ohio, and died May 24, 1929, at the St. Francis Hospital, Grand Island, Nebr., aged 54 years, 9 months, and 24 days. On March 19, 1898, she was united in marriage to Francis Marion Hitch, who preceded her in death November 22, 1919. To this union were born eight children: Arthur H., of Talmage, Mrs. Vera L. Williams, Mrs. Martha M. Flyr, Mrs. Nada Belle Chapin, George W., and Harold T., all of Kansas City, Mo., Francis M., of Juniata, and Robert W., at home.

Besides the eight children, she leaves to mourn her loss six grandchildren, three brothers, Taylor and Hoadley Brintlinger of Ashville, Ohio, and Burt Brintlinger of Columbus, Ohio, two sisters, Mrs. G. H. Duvall and Mrs. J. B. Brinker, of Ashville, Ohio, a stepson, Harley H. Hitch, of Doniphan, and a host of friends in the Doniphan and Juniata communities where she has made her home for the past twenty-three years. Her parents, one sister, Mrs. M. E. Brinker, all of Ashville, Ohio, and a grandson, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis M. Hitch of Juniata, preceeded her in death.

She united with the Methodist Church at Doniphan, October 1, 1912, and has ever since been a faithful member.
