From "A Hitch Orchard", the following is said of Paul Tulane Collins:
"At fourteen Mr. Collins entered Bingham Military School for college preparation and there under the guidance of Major Robert Bingham those sterling qualities of character which were inherent in him developed. In 1903 he received the degree PH B. from Dickinson College, the youngest in his class. After graduation he was for a time with the National Cash Register Co. in Dayton, Ohio. he was promoted rapidly, being sent to St. Louis and Portland, Oregon. In 1906 he returned to Norfolk and engaged in real estate and finance. Companies organized by Mr. Collins have been universally successful. He has taken losses himself but has never passed one on to the public. As an organizer his ability was soon recognized and his service sought. Besides having been a bank director and a director in many corporations for twenty-four years, Mr. Collins is president of Collins & Co., Federal Guarantee Mortgage Co., and Princess Anne & Norfolk Mutual Building & Loan Association; was president of Norfolk Real Estate & Stock Exchange, 1919 and 1920; president Virginia Real Estate Association 1921; vice-president National Association of Real Estate Boards 1918-19; President Norfolk Ad. Club 1918 and 1919, and director Chamber of Commerce 1918-1919. Notwithstanding Mr. Collins' many business activities he had found time to serve actively on the Board of Directors of the Union Rescue Mission for over twenty years." (Now 1930). In 1930 Mr. Collins was serving as secretary and treasurer of the Martin Motors, a draft and inexpensive automobile was being placed on the market.
Paul married Elizabeth Wardell Kurtz in 1909.1 (Elizabeth Wardell Kurtz was born in 1883, died on 28 Feb 1921 in VA and was buried about 02 Mar 1921 in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, VA.)
