Avery W. Hitch 1
Avery W. Hitch, 78, of Salisbury, died Saturday, June 8, 2002 at his home. Born in Eden, he was the son of the late U. Thomas and Ida C. Hitch. Mr. Hitch attended Church of God of Prophecy in Salisbury. He was employed by Larry J. Causey & Sons. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by one son, SFC, Gary Hitch and his wife, Julianne of Havre deGrace, MD; three grandchildren: Gary, Lester, and Francine; sister, Lena H. Bowen and her husband, Richard W., two brothers: James P. Hitch and E. Walter Hitch and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Hazel H. Bennett and Florence H. McGrath and two brothers: Lawrence and L. Carroll Hitch. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at 11 AM at Smullen Cemetery in Salisbury. The Rev. O. W. Emerson will officiate. Contributions may be made to Church of God of Prophecy, 506 E. College Ave., Salisbury, MD 21804 or Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802 or charity of choice. Arrangements are being handled by the Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804. Avery married. |
