bullet  Notes:

William was named as an heir on Sep 16 1679 at Pungoteague, Accomack Co., VA. It was on this date that Southy Littleton left William White, planter, 155a at the head of the branches of Pungoteague. According to Whitelaw, he agreed to sell 155a to William White Sr. and directed that the obligation be fulfilled. William sold 175a of land on Sep 15 1691 at Accomack Co., VA for 4,500 lbs tobacco to Rowland Savage, land at the head of "Pocomoak" Branch - signed Sep 15 1691 by William White and witnessed by Thomas Welburn and Jno. Washbourne.

On Nov 8 1699 in Accomack Court, it was noted that at the last court Richard Rogers had been appointed constable to replace Michael Rickets, but now Mr. Robert Hutchinson "moved ye court that ye said Rogers was a person illiterate and therefore not capable to manage an office of so considerable a trust." Hutchinson recommended William White, who lived in the precinct and was "more fit to manage ye trust in regard he could write and read." The court ordered that Rogers be discharged and that White go to the nearest magistrate to be sworn.

White made his will on Feb 24 1703 in Accomack Co. Following, a court record of Jul 5 1703 states "Peter Rogers aged about 39 years and Richard Rogers aged about 36, said that on 29 June last, we heard William White (who was at the time in a very week & sickly condition, but sensible) say upon his being asked the question whether he would not make a will, that what he had was not worth making a will, but what he had he would give to that child that did most for him, and being asked who that was he replyed his son William White. Signed: Peter 'PR' Rogers & Richard 'RR' Rogers." The nuncupative will of William White dec'd was presented to the court Aug 3 1703 by his son William White who prayed probation thereof which being proved in open court of Accomack County by corporal oaths of Peter Rogers and Richard Rogers is ordered to be recorded. (AccVAW-1692/1715-Pt 1:38).

An inventory of the estate of William White, late of Accomack County, dec'd, appraised on Apr 9 1709 for a total value of 18,496 lbs of tobacco. A "persil of cloth and trimin" valued at 4.14.6 was delivered unto Rich'd Kitson which he oblidges himself to pay in goods at prime cost out of England without charges or resque in such commodities as said by Ann A Bellow White (sic, Aanabella?) shall require for herself and children. Appraised by Rich'd Kitson, Thomas Crippen & John Barnes Senior. The inventory was sworn to in open court of Accomack County by Annabellow White and ordered recorded on 3 May 1709. (Ibid:397)
