Louis "L.M." McGrath Carey, Jr., 57, of Salisbury, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury surrounded by his family. Raised in Fruitland, he was the son of Louis M. Carey, Sr. and the late Anna Belle Kelley Carey who died in 2007. L.M. was a graduate of James M. Bennett High School, class of 1971. He owned and operated the family's seed, basket, and fertilizer business, known as N. W. Carey & Sons in Fruitland, until his retirement in 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lynne Jackson Carey; in-laws, Jack & JoAnne Jackson of Salisbury; an aunt, Rachel Carey McKenzie of Fruitland; 6 cousins, Becky Olmsted & her husband, Varner of NC, Duffy McKenzie, Jr. & his wife, Shirley of AL, Pat McKenzie & his wife, Anita of FL, Richard N. Carey, Jr. & his wife, Irene of Mt. Vernon, Carolyn Senter & her husband, Jerry Wayne of Salisbury and Randy Bloxom & his wife, Nancy of Eden. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 1:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at the St. John's UMC Cemetery. Rev. Paul Sherwood will officiate.
