On Jan 6 1832, Samuel Lokey sold 15a of land in "Hardship" to Isaac Lokey (both as Loakey) for $1.00 (WoLR-AX:389).

Samuel's father, Thomas, gave a certificate to John W. Sirman to have surveyed "Hardship" for Serman on Nov 19 1794 but he never patented it. In the early 1880s, the land was disputed by "Sirman and Malone" and there were several court filings: (a) petition of Sirman and Malone, supported by (b) 06 Sep 1884 deposition of John Lokey (age 72), brother of Isaac Lokey - Samuel Lokey conveyed HARDSHIP to Isaac Lokey "upwards of 50 yrs" prior to this date; (c) 14 Feb 1883 deposition of Priscilla A. Ennis and Sarah Layfield that Isaac Lokey was son of Samuel Lokey - Isaac died c1860, leaving children: James Lokey, Henry Lokey, Henrietta Lokey and Sallie Lokey, all of whom are now dead save James Lokey and Henry Lokey - Henrietta Lokey and Sallie Lokey died intestate without children, James and Henry are only living descendants of Isaac Lokey; (d) several conveyances.
