Viola Spain Hitch

From "A Hitch Orchard," Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: "Viola Spain Hitch was educated at Princeton, IN. She went to high school but did not graduate. She took care of her mother during her last illness of tuberculosis. After her parents died she went to live with Mr. and Mrs. C.H.Bell (Her brother Allen married into this family) and she lived with them until she married Elbert Ross. Not long after her marriage, Viola developed tuberculosis.

She and her husband moved to Colorado Springs, CO where she finally regained apparent full health and vigor. Some time later, she returned to southern Indiana and immediately her ailment returned. She rushed back to the mountains but too late as she soon passed away. She was a member of the Christian Church, Princeton, IN."

Viola married Ebbert Ross Sr., son of Elias Wilson Ross and Sarah Ann Wingate, on 28 Jul 1916 in Elkhart Co., IN.¹ (Ebbert Ross Sr. was born on 16 Oct 1887 in Pike Co., IN,^{1 5} died on 11 Mar 1957 in IN ⁵ and was buried about 14 Mar 1957 in Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Vigo Co., IN.)
