He had moved to Wilmington, DE by 1868 when he is listed in the city directory. with his brother Daniel C. Hitch. A brief obituary appears for him in the Mar 10 1906 edition of the Denton Journal (Denton, MD). His death certificate says he was a railroad conductor and widower and died on Mar 4 1906 of heart disease only 3 days after his brother, Daniel C. Hitch.
IN his wife, Margaret's, obituary he is described as one of the best known conductors on the Delaware Railroad.
Lemuel married Margaret Conner about 1869. (Margaret Conner was born on 15 Jan 1852 in MD,7 8 died on 29 Feb 1904 in New Castle Co., DE and was buried about 02 Mar 1904 in Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery, New Castle Co., DE.)
