Franciscus Xavier Nesius

  Notes:

I always enjoyed going into my Grandparents house with my parents to visit them. On several occasions I would get to stay all night and some time a whole week,sleeping on a feather tic bed was like laying on a pile of tree leaves. Grandpa would set in his chair smoking a cigarette or pipe and talking, telling me how he beat the guys in euchre up at the Courthouse where he played cards every late morning. He would some times take me down to the basement where he was making some sort of project out of wood or carving things like fishing plugs, little animals, flower boxes and etc. His favorite horse on the farm's name was "Daisy ". Grampa had a great sense of humor and liked tell funny stories on family members.

On Saturday nights most of the families would go to Rensselaer to buy thier weekley groceries, then they would go to Grandpa's & Grandma's house where the men would play cards and the women would set around and visit and Grandma would do what she did best, hustle around making everyone comfortable. There would often be eight to ten couples there and us kids ( about eight ) would head for the three bedrooms where we could jump on the beds, model our
grandparent's clothes and make a lot of noise, most of the time the parents didn't care because they were doing there thing and we were out of sight and out of mind.
Around 9;30 Grandma would bring food out of the kitchen, set it on the dining room table where every one would make a sandwich of rye bread and bolongia and other side dishes eat and then go home. Great memories for me growing up with my cousins.

Franciscus married Louise Augusta Zacher on 20 Oct 1897. (Louise Augusta Zacher was born on 17 Apr 1878 in Schlossvipach, Germany (Weimer- Saxon Germany), died on 26 Feb 1962 in Rensselaer, Jasper, IN and was buried in Rensselaer, Jasper Co, In Weston Cemetery.)
