William Carmichael ¹

William Carmichael wrote his will Dec 8 1768 and it was proven in Queen Annes Co. on Apr 20 1769 as follows:
- To son Walter, all land ALLENS NECK, ALLENS NECK OUTLET, HARMINGTON, ELIZABETHS PORTION
- To sons Wlliam & James, THE PACK, 500a, PARTHERSHIP, 36a to be divided equally
- To daughter Elizabeth Brook Carmichael, ten pounds and four English guineas
- To son Richard Bennett Carmichael, 4 English guineas
- Residue of estate to granddaughters Elizabeth & Rebecca Holt when they arrive at age 16, negroes Matt & Ran that I gave their mother in her lifetime, this to be 1/7th of the residue; to Walter Jackson, one negro girl child.
- Rest to following children, Walter & William & James Carmichael, Catherine Brown, Elizabeth Thompson, and Ann Carmichael to be divided equally.
- Son Walter, and John Brown to be executors
Witnesses: Thomas Hackett, Vinson Benton Jr., Thomas Smith
CODICIL:
Whereas as my deceased brother Walter Carmichael, late of Edinborough, devised his estate to my sister Anne Carmichael and that recession to me, that devision shall be divided like the personal estate above. (QAW-1761/77:262)

William married Katherine Elizabeth Holt about 1715. (Katherine Elizabeth Holt was born in 1696 in Surry, Surry Co., VA and died on 20 Jul 1767 in York, VA.)
