In the 1734 Somerset Rent Rolls, Thomas Caywell is listed as owning 200a of tract DURHAM HOUSE (also SCARBOROUGH CASTLE). This tract ends up being owned by his son, Job Claywell.

On the foregoing bill of Indictment it was Endorsed Ignoramus John Waters foreman Now to witt the third Tuesday of November being the fifteenth day of the same month ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Seven before the Justices of his Lordship County Court of Somerset at dividing Creek Came the Said Thomas Claywell in his proper person according to a Certain Recognizance by him & his Security in that part ^first^ acknowledged and prays that his appearance may be recorded and he and his security discharged Thereupon by order of Court the said Thomas Claywells appearance is recorded and he & his Security discharged & Abraham Outten and Henry Jerman appears here in Court according to a Certain Recognizance ^by them^ in that part before acknowledged to give Evidence on behalfe of his Lordship against Thomas Claywell & Donnock ^Dennis^ thereupon the said Abra: Outten & Henry Jarman by order of Court are discharged and Each of them are discharged from the recognizance afd &
