On Apr 1 1757 Lemuel Purnell, yeoman, sold 100a of SIMPLETON to Thomas Purnell, planter, [as SELBYS HAMMOCKS described as "adjoins Lemuel Purnell, Stringer Tilney, Selby Bay"]. (WoLR-D:177) On Mar 11 1758 Samuel Atkinson et ux. Sarah Atkinson sold 526a of SIMPLETON, 30a of DURHAM HOUSE, 100a of RESERVE (or BISHOPS CHOICE) to Lemuel Purnell. (WoLR-D:246)
On Nov 10 1758, 30a of DURHAM HOUSE, and part of SIMPLETON acq. from John Selby) was sold by William Selby to Lemuel Purnell. (WoLR-D:339)
On Jun 8 1762, Lemuel Purnell had the 49a tract COW QUARTER surveyed for him in Worcester and received patent the same day and Mar 28 1764 for a resurvey as ADDITION TO COW QUARTER for 56a with Thomas Purnell and they received patent in 1764.
On Mar 28 1767, Lemuel Purnell, gentleman sold all rights of the tract SELBYS SECURITY to to Chesed Purnell, gentleman (WoLR-G:192) NOTE: Their grandfather William Selby had patented this land.
On Jul 21 1769, 94a of CONVENIENCY and 6a of CASTLE HILL) were sold by Levi Hopkins et ux. Margaret Hopkins to Parker Selby, George Hayward, Peter Chaille, Lemuel Purnell, William Whittington, "trustees of the poor." (WoLR-H:060).
On Dec 8 1763, Lemuel and Chesed Purnell had the 207a tract BROTHERS CONTRIVANCE surveyed for them in Worcester and received patent in 1770. This seems to be part of the SIMPLETON tract somewhere in its middle section bases upon later deeds as such; Oct 18 1771 (quitclaim) from Chesed Purnell et ux. Mary Purnell to Sarah Martin (wife of Thomas Martin), for £155 (WoLR-H:622); Oct 16 1771 (part of SIMPLETON bought by Chesed Purnell's grandfather William Selby from Stringer Tilney in 1758, MIDDLE [now by resurvey as BROTHERS CONTRIVANCE] from Chessed Purnell et ux. Mary Purnell to Littleton Dennis (WoLR-I:072) and Oct 17 1771 (all rights except 100a) from Lemuel Purnell to Littleton Dennis (WoLR-I:073)

Lemuel Purnell's will was proven 23 Mar 1772 in Worcester Co. To wife - 2 part of plantation, 2 of personal estate provided she divide the personal estate among her three daughters Ann, Sarah, Henerita To son John Selby - Negro Cloe To son George - right and title to tract ROCHESTER. Also Negro Elizabeth Witnesses: Chesed Purnell, Mary Purnell, Samuel Marchment. Marchment witnessed on Mar 23 1772 and mentioned Chessed Purnell is "since dead" and Mary, his wife has gone to "new Virginia." (WoW-JW4:124)
