William D. Johnson
William "Bill" D. Johnson 85 of Salisbury died Monday, December 29, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mardela Springs, Bill was the son of the late Luke and Sallie Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Isabelle Johnson; two daughters and their husbands, Deitra & Donald Hales of Salisbury and Judy & Bruce Rogers of Sharptown; two granddaughters and their husbands, Tanya & Adam Westhoff and Katie & Todd Harper all of Salisbury; and great-grandchildren: Sydney Shannon, Brooklin Westhoff, Nathan Harper and Natalie Harper all of Salisbury. In addition to his parents, his sister, Edie Johnson, preceded him in death. Bill was the cornerstone of his family and a testament to what a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather should be. He was a pillar of Christian faith, integrity and loyalty to his friends and his community. Loved and endeared by all that knew him, Bill was always able to bring humor to any and all situations, and his words of wisdom always brought laughter to those around him. Bill spent his life committed in service to his family, friends, his church, the community, and most importantly to the Lord. He devoted 45 years of service as a maintenance supervisor with DuPont, Co. in Seaford. In addition, Bill served as a beloved bus driver for Dove Point, an active and dedicated member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, a lifetime honorary member of the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Roelma Masonic Lodge #206 in Sharptown, and a board member of the Tamarac Village Homeowners Association. Bill touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Sharptown. Visitation will be held at the church Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Miller and Rev. Gary Tulak will officiate. Interment will be in the Sharptown Fireman's Cemetery immediately following the service. William married Isabelle (?). |
