First shows in the Somerset Tax Lists in 1729 in Baltimore Hundred with his father John (head of household) and brother John Holloway. By 1734, he is in his own household as the head.

He is mentioned in a land transaction involving tract TEMPLE HALL on Jul 5 1740, when 165a was sold by John Wood, son of Robert Wood deceased, to Joseph Holloway, planter, the land being next to where Holloway now lives. (SoLR-MF:168)

On Aug 24 1770, Stanton Adkins sold 100a of DEER HARBOUR to his father- and mother-in-law Joseph Holloway and Priscilla Holloway, for life ["chiefly woodland, south of plantation where I now live"] (WoLR-H:579)
