She was named in a court order on Jan 5 1696/97 at Accomack Co., VA as Bridget Taylor (widow) owing 110 lbs tobacco to the estate of Martha Eyres (deceased). Ordered that she pay the debt to Col. John West (the sheriff), to whom the estate had been committed. She was again named in a court order the next day on Jan 6 1696/97 as Bridget Taylor (widow and administrator of her late husband, Willm. Taylor) petitioned that the estate of Martha Eyre (recently deceased) owed Taylor 850 lbs tobacco. The bill was proved by witnesses and Bridget swore that she had not been paid. Ordered that the present sheriff pay the debt out of the estate. Bridget married William Taylor, son of William Taylor and Elizabeth (?), about 1680 in Accomack Co., VA. (William Taylor was born about 1638 in Jamestown, James City Co., VA and died before 15 Sep 1696 in Accomack Co., VA.) Bridget next married Col. John Custis about 1697 in Accomack Co., VA. (Col. John Custis was born about 1660 in Accomack Co., VA and died before 11 Mar 1706 in Accomack Co., VA.) |
