On Tuesday, Aug 10, 1779, a jury of the Orpan's Court passed presentment against Edmund Cropper for detaining Purnell Porter (of James). (WoOCP-1777/1800:071).
Purnell Porter wrote his will on Dec 24 1821 and it was probated in Worcester Co. on Jan 15 1822: - To beloved wife Nancy, tract of land where I now live "Edwards Lott" for her widowhood, also right and title to "Pointers Gift To Purnell" and "Struggle." Aslo, one dozen Windsor chairs, bed/furniture, ngro boy Zebidee till he is age 28, negro boy Shadrach till he is 28, horse/carriage, yoke of oxen and a wain, two plows, two harrows, mahogany desk, looking glass, clock, 1000-weight of pork, 100 bushels of corn, 50-weight of fat, - After wife's decease, all lands mentioned should be sold and proceeds to: - Son William, $500 - he also to be executor - Son Edward, $1000 - Daughters Louisa and Lorian, all remaining - To daughter Louisa, bed/furniture, mahogany table and cow/calf - To daughter Lorian, mahogany table, bed/furniture, cow/calf - Negro girl Lidd should be free at age 28 - Grandchildren Purnell and Ann Hall and Sally Porter (d/o John Porter) should have $50 each unless estate will not cover, then one shilling each. - Son James, $10 if estate covers, if not, one shilling Witnesses: John J.
