Served as a Private, Company D, 1st (Charleston) Battalion SC Infantry/Sharp Shooters/Sumter Guards which later consolidated into Company D, 27th SC Infantry (Gaillard Regt), CS. He enlisted on Sep 26 1863 at Charleston, SC by Capt Hopkins "for the war." (Note that he had just turned age 18). The muster records also indicate the following: Silas married Susan Elizabeth Pinson, daughter of John Pinson and Minerva (?), on 22 Feb 1866 in Laurens Co., SC.1 2 (Susan Elizabeth Pinson was born on 24 Jul 1836 in SC,4 7 8 died on 08 May 1905 in SC and was buried about 11 May 1905 in Laurens Co., SC.) |
