Poplar Spring, Sept. 20 --- At 11 minutes of seven o'clock on the 19th all that was mortal of Mrs. Caroline Hitch ceased to exist. The deceased was the widow of the late J. A. Hitch, who preceded her to the grave only a few years ago. She had many afflictions and many difficulties, losing her eyesight about ten years ago, but these trials she bore with Christian patience. She had been a consistent member of Poplar Springs church for a number of years, attending regularly, but after losing her eyesight she was denied that privilege, but was living in the faith and trusting. She has attained the ripe old age of 82 years and 1 day. The interment took place in the cemetery at this place, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. J. O. Martin. Mr. W. C. Hitch is the only surviving one of her children. The deceased had a large circle of friends who will be pained to learn of her death as was evidenced in her last illness and death.
