Funeral of Mr. John W. Shiles. The funeral of the late John W. Shiles took place this afternoon from his late residence, No. 510 Maine avenue, and was attended by a large number of the Oldest Inhabitants' Association and of the Metropolitan M.E. Church, of which he was one of the earliest members. The services were conducted by Rev. G.H. Corey and the remains were interred at the Congressional cemetery. Mr. Shiles was about seventy-three years of age and came here from Delaware about forty-five years ago. For some time he lived on a farm in Virginia, but left it and came to this city. He is the last of three brothers and he leaves one son and a daughter.

John married Mary Ann Carey, daughter of Mitchell B. Carey and Mary (?), on 13 Mar 1841 in Sussex Co., DE.^{1 2 3} (Mary Ann Carey was born on 15 Nov 1822 in Sussex Co., DE,^{2 7 8 9} died on 02 May 1907 in Washington, DC and was buried on 05 May 1907 in Congressional Cemetery, Washington, DC.)
