2 SC History and Genealogy Magazine, vol. XXX, page 253, States "married on the 19th ult. in Laurens District by Robert Hutchinson, Esq., Mr. Joshua Hitch to the amiable and accomplished Elizabeth Compton, both of that District."
3 SC DAR Bible Records say he was born in 1743. However, the 1830 (SC) Census shows his age as 60-70.

Charleston (SC) Times - March 7, 1808, Obituary states, "Departed this life on Friday evening, the 5th of February last, Mr. Joshua Hitch, aged about 28 years, a native of Maryland, but a resident of South Carolina for about seven years. He left a wife and four brothers."
