Otis Little Hitch
From "A Hitch Orchard", Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: Otis Little Hitch's wife was still living in New Bedford, MA. in 1930. He worked as a sail maker with his father until the time of the Civil War when shipping was at a low ebb. He then went to Washington to make tents for the army. His brother Charles went to Philadelphia and his brother Hardy to Brooklyn for the same purpose. Otis was made a member of the home guard in Washington, D.C. for defense of the city against the rebels. Otis married Florence C. Davis, daughter of (?) Davis and Sarah J. (?). (Florence C. Davis was born in Apr 1851 in MA 6 and died after 1930.) |
