From "A Hitch Orchard": Richard Price Davies was born in Middle Granville, Washington Co., NY. He is of Welsh extraction. He graduated from High School in Mikkle Granville, NY. For a short time he attended the Troy Conference Academy in Poultney, Vt. Graduated from Syracuse University June 1906 - Civil Engineering. Has practiced engineering ever since. He and his wife were married in Jamaica, L.I. He is a Mason, a Presbyterian, much interested in Sunday School work, and a Republican. Previously was a member of Port Byron Lodge #130, Port Byron, NY. While in college he belonged to Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity, an engineering fraternity. Richard married Daisy Bell Hitch, daughter of William Gould Hitch and Jane (Jennie) Eletta Scott, on 21 Oct 1907 in Jamaica, Long Island, NY. (Daisy Bell Hitch was born on 28 Oct 1877 in New York City, NY 1 2 3 and died on 02 Aug 1938 in NY 4.) |
