On Dec 13 1769, William Rencher purchased of James Mackemorie Jones 88a part of "Goodwill" (="Chance") for 80 pounds (SoLR-E:75).
William Rencher wrote his will on Dec 6 1796 and it was proven in Somerset Co. on Jan 11 1803 with the following provisions: - To children of daughter Margaret (as Margret), the wife of Philip Jones, part of my personal estate to equally divide among them - To daughter Sarah Rencher, the other part of my personal estate and one mare and 18 pounds/year as long as she remains single and 3 pounds of this to be used to maintain negro woman Jane (these amounts to be paid by son John Rencher) - To Philip Jones, the rest of my plantation for this present year and 12 pounds of which I paid for him to David Wilson, and one Bay horse - To Negro man Moses to have his freedom provided he pays the sum of one hundred pounds within six years - To son John Rencher, all that part of land tract "Chance" whereon I now live upon condition that he pay to Evans Willin the amount of his claim, also he to get my wearing apparel - Appoint daughters Sarah Rencher and Peggy Jones executors.
