bullet  Notes:

It is unfortunate that this Jacob Morris only names 3 sons but infers he has others in his will of 1727. It appears to this compiler that there were 3-4 other sons viz, John, Jeremiah, Nathaniel and possibly Joshua. This is gleaned from the old Somerset Tax Lists. This complier also did a deeper dive into the potential son, John Morris, and matched land tracts owned and bargained to connect to later generations of this branch of the old Somerset Morrises.

On Feb 23 1726 Jacob Morris, planter, purchased land in "Laytons Discovery" (as "Morries Purchase" from John Leatherbury, gentleman and his wife Sarah. (SoLR-TH:021)

Jacob Morris wrote his will on Feb 19 1726/27 and it was probated in Somerset Co. on May 23 1727 with:
-To my two eldest sons Mark and Jacob, my land, namely my house and plantation to Mark and a line drawn from the river through the mirey place that stands just below ye old bridge to where it comes up to a branch by where the house stands. If Mark dies, his part to Jacob and Jacob's part to next son Joseph. Likewise if Jacob dies, then to next son and so on
-To daughter Temperance, a good feather bed and bolster
-To daughter Jemima, a good feather bed and bolster
-To sons Mark and Jacob to aid and assist their mother to the utmost to pay for the land and they to give their brothers schooling so that they can read the Bible and if their mother dies before they come of age I declare them free at age 18
-Rest of estate to be divided amongst my children
-Well beloved wife and two eldest sons Mark and Jacob to be equal executors.
Witnesses: Charles Hill, Joseph Nicholson, John Reddish (SoW-EB9:111)
