On Oct 26 1762, Peter Owens had the tract OWENS CHANCE resurveyed for the original 50a plus 338a vacancy. On Jul 17 1767, 125a of the large tract SAFEGUARD was sold by Jonathan Cathell, blacksmith, to Peter Owens, planter. (WoLR-G:137)

On Oct 15 1802, Peter Owens had his portion (94a) of SAFEGUARD resurveyed to include 55a of vacant land and called it OWENS LOT and received patent Dec 18 1804.
Peter Owens wrote his will on Jul 17 1803 and it was proven in Worcester Co., MD on Feb 8 1805 and it makes the following provisions: - To sons Jonathan and Purnell Owens 100a of land called "Safeguard" equally divided - To wife Sarah Owens 50a called "Owens Chance", 50a "Cow Harbor", and 10.5a "James Luck" for her widowhood, after she dies, son Spencer Owens to get "Owens Chance" land if he ever returns from Georgia. If he does not return, divide it between Jonathan and Purnell Owens. They also to get the two other tracts of Sarah when she is deceased. - To wife Sarah, all my moveable estate after debts are paid - To daughter Sarah Smulling one bed and furniture, one spinning wheel and all her mother's clothes at her decease - Remainder to Jonathan, Purnell Owens and Sarah Smulling Witnesses: Johnson Hayman, William Cottingham, Charles Harris (WoW-1803/07:216).
For the Jun 9 1809 Chancery Court we find: Joshua Duer vs. Spencer Owens, Jonathan Owens, Patty Owens, James Owens, Hulda Owens, Eben Owens, Eli Smullen and Sarah Smullen. WO.
