Henry Edwin Long Morris (1826-1862) |
Henry Edwin Long Morris 1
Henry E.L. Morris is indeed linked to Thomas and Ann (Craft) Morris. This seems to be a long-standing supposition from many on-line genealogies. HOWEVER, from a surviving Bible of Levin Morris, we find that he was the son of John and Ann (Pollitt) Morris. But, all other hard evidence points to this being incorrect and a later incorrect entry into that record. The Somerset County Orphan's Court Records clearly point to Henry as the son of Thomas and Ann Morris in 1843 (see SoOCP-Bk 5:231) as "son of Thomas and Ann Morris, deceased". Henry married Emeline J.* Pollitt, daughter of Levin T. Pollitt and Elizabeth (Betsey) Morris, on 23 Mar 1844 in Somerset Co., MD. (Emeline J.* Pollitt was born in 1825 in MD,4 5 died in 1874 in MD and was buried in 1874 in Cemetery On Old Pollitt Farm, Meadow Bridge Road, Somerset Co., MD.) |
