From the Salisbury Advertiser Apr 29 1871, Upper Trappe writings, "...Both plants and fruit of those bearing look vigorous, notwithstanding tho late frosts and dry weather; and there will probably be some shipments of berries from here by the 10th of May. Mr. W. W. Disharoon is the most extensive grower of this delicious small fruit here, and in this promises to merit the appellation of Strawberry King in this section. He has several acres of good land set with plants, and has in bearing this spring, one of the finest lots of plants I have ever seen. The Mills here belonging to Messers Alex. Malone and Murrell, manufactured a considerable quantity of flour meal and lumber, during the month of March."

On Aug 2 1876, Sydney and Mary E. Malone sold, for $951, their 1/3rd interest in Trappe Mills including the grist and saw mills, dwelling house and land and mill pond. It was land the Malones purchased from Purnell Toadvine and John W. Crisfield, trustees of Jesse and William W. Huffington and used by William W. Disharoon and Cinderella his wife. It was to be split at one half of said one third owned by Alexander Murrell and the balance by William F. and Joseph S.C. Allen. On Sep 26 1876, another deed was executed referencing a deed for Jan 18 1868 between William W. and Jesse Huffington who sold their interests (one undivided 2/3rds interest) in Trappe Mills to Purnell Toadvine. At that time, William W. Disharoon is indicated as the owner of the remaining 1/3rd interest. Trustees of te Huffingtons, with consent of Disharoon, then sold all interest to Alexander Murrell (1/3), Sydney Malone (1/3) and William F. & Joseph S.C. Allen (1/3) for a sum of $6000. Malone later sold his interest to the other two set of parties so Mureell ended up with 1/2 interest and the Allens, 1/2 interest. (WiLR-SPT2:291,292)

On Oct 11 1876, Alexander and Mary E. Murrell took a $1618.13 mortgage from Purnell Toadvine for all their interest in Trappe Mills including the grist and saw mills, dwelling house and all land and water privileges. This record also sells a 40a tract in Hungary Neck, Somerset Co., formerly belongng to John Murrell and purchased by said Alexander Murrell from the heirs of John Murrell (it adjoins land of John W. Murrell) The Murrells were to pay the obligation in two equal installments in two years by Jul 26 1878. (WiLR-SPT2:274)

On Jan 16 1879, Alexander R. Murrell and his wife Mary E. sold Joseph S.C. and William F. Allen, for $60, a tract of land known as "Cherry Grove" or "Cherry Orchard" or "Monsham" situated at Upper Trappe adjoining the lands of the M.E. Church (to the north), east by W.J. Bounds' lot, south by B.F. Mezick's land and west by L.B. Price's land. It is Murrell's undivided interest in six shares in what is known as the Cherry Grove Stock Company containing one acre of land more or less. (WiLR-SPT3:176)

On Apr 10 1880, Alexander R. Murrell gave a mortgage to George and Anna Bounds for 3/4 acre of land and a house in Trappe District for $42. The Bounds' were obligated to pay the balance by Jan 10 1881. (WiLR-SPT3:493)

On Jul 21 1880, Alexander R. and Mary E. Murrell sold E. Stanley Toadvine, for $3500, all their interest in Trappe Mills, part in Wicomico and part in Somerset. It included the grist and saw mills, dwelling house and all land and water privileges. It is same property that William F. Allen, Joseph S.C. Allen, Alexander R. Murrell and Sydney G. Malone purchased of Purnell Toadvine & John W. Crisfield, trustees of Jesse and William W. Huffington. This record also sells a 40a tract in Hungary Neck, Somerset Co., formerly belongng to John Murrell and purchased by said Alexander Murrell from the heirs of John Murrell (it adjoins land of John W. Murrell). (WiLR-SPT3:461)
