Stephen Dykes (as Dikes) wrote his will on Apr 3 1807 and it was probated on Aug 10 1824 in Somerset Co., MD:
- to beloved wife, Jane Dikes, 1/2 all my property and personal estate if she is with child. If not with child, if not, all my property during her widowhood. If with child and the child lives, the child to get half of my property
- If she is not with child, 1/2 of my estate to Joshua Whittington Hitch
- If wife is with child, I appoint my friend Stephen Collins to be guardian
