Levin Denston 1
- Born: Abt 1736, Somerset Co., MD 2 3 4
- Marriage (1): Sarah?? (?)
- Died: 1801-1809, Worcester Co., MD
During the American Revolution, Levin Denston is listed in Captain Bennett's Worcester County Militia Company of the Wicomico Battalion on Jul 15 1780.
In 1790, Levin Denston is listed in Worcester Co. with a household of 12200 (next to Isaac Denston with 12300), showing himself as age >16 and two other males under age 16. In 1800, Levin Denston is listed in a household of 20211-10001 in Worcester Co., MD, suggesting he is over 45 years of age (page 222A).
If he were the eldest son of John Denston, he would have to have been born prior to 1718 and would have shown in the Tax Lists with his family and he would have been quite elderly by 1800 (82+ years old), not probitively old but very old for that timeframe. It is this compiler's belief that Levin was born after 1726 since he would have had to be age 15 to show up in the extant Somerset Tax Lists up to 1740. Therefore, he must have been the youngest son getting the remainder of John Denston's estate in 1765.
On Nov 7 1807, a Levin Denston (as Denson & Denston) sold 51a of land to James Riggin (as Riggan) in "Riggins Addition" for $100. Adjacent to mill pond belonging to Joshua Morris. (WoLR-Z:155)
Levin married Sarah?? (?).
