From a letter from Dorothy Hitch of Centralia, Washington, dated March 22, 1997: "Robert William Hitch left England at the age of 16 and worked his passage to the U.S. by ship. We don't know how long that took - if it took a year, he would have landed about 1883."
Moved from Dickinson Co., Kansas to Woodward Co., Oklahoma sometime between 1905 and 1906.
Robert married Esther Christina Johnson on 01 Jan 1897 in Fact, KS.1 (Esther Christina Johnson was born on 08 Dec 1875 in Clay Center, Clay Co., KS 1 5 6 7 and died on 22 Aug 1957 in Centralia, WA 1 4 7.)
