George Reeves Hitch

Hitch, George Reeves "Reeves",78, died peacefully on September 16, 2014, at the Episcopal Church Home. Reeves was born December 31, 1935 in Roanoke, Virginia, and lived in Roanoke until college. He graduated from Wheaton College in 1958. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot with the 3rd Airborne Early Warning Squadron, flying missions throughout the free world from 1958-1962. After the Navy, Reeves accepted a position with IBM and relocated in Louisville where he met his wife, Sharon. Reeves had a successful career in sales of computers, office electronics and aircraft. He was a lifelong member of Christ Church, United Methodist where he faithfully served as an Adult and Youth Sunday School teacher, as well as participating in various church committees and activities. Reeves is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon, and their children, Angie Henry (Jonathan) of Louisville, Tom Hitch (Patty) of Keedysville, MD, two grandsons, Alexander and Bennett Henry, and two step grandsons, Ben Dusina (Tiffany) and Jeremy Dusina (Andrea) and their 5 children. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Kay Preas (Gene) of Richmond, VA, two nieces, Amy Hall (Scott) and Debbie Peterson (Paul) and his nephew Stephen Preas (Jessica), and his sister-in-law Anne Stengell of Louisville. The funeral will be on Saturday, September 20, 2014, 2 p.m. at Christ Church, United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Road. Visitation will be at the church prior to the funeral service starting at noon until the time of the service.
