Mrs Martha A. Smullen, who had been ill for 3 weeks, died last night at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Edgar A. Johnson, with whom she made her home. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 from the late residence, with interment at Parsons cemetery.
Mrs. Smullen, who was 67 years old, is survived by 2 daughters besides Mrs. Johnson. They are Mrs. William Townsend and Mrs Venie Matthews, both of Salisbury. Other survivors are 3 sons, Purnell, Orlie and Clayton and 22 grandchildren

Martha married Joshua Purnell Smullen, son of Eli Smullen and Mary W. (Mollie) Dryden, about 1874. (Joshua Purnell Smullen was born on 26 Jan 1848 in MD,4 5 6 7 died on 24 Dec 1916 in Wicomico Co., MD 1 and was buried about 27 Dec 1916 in Smullen Cemetery, St. Lukes Rd., Worcester Co., MD.)
