Edward L. Hitch Resident of Gridley Township Passes Away Last Friday Evening After Long Illness. -- Edward Lacey Hitch died at 6:20 Friday evening at his home four and one-half miles southwest of Gridley. He had been afflicted several years. The remains were brought to the Ficken memorial home where they remained until Saturday evening and then were returned to the home where the funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday conducted by Rev. R. L. Beshers. Mrs. Claud Patton and Frank Messer sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lyle Wilson. Ancil Shoup, Elmer Punke, John Russell, Clarence Fever, Claud Patton and Floyd Houck were pallbearers. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Hitch was born in Gridley township July 3, 1886, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Hitch. On December 16, 1903, he married Miss Jennie McKinley of Hudson, who survives. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Murray of Bloomington and Miss Ruth Chicago; his mother and a sister, the latter being Mrs. Essie Johnson, both of Marion, Ohio, and a brother, Alfred Hitch of Detroit, Mich. The mother and sister in Ohio were unable to attend the funeral on account of the illness of the former. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hitch of Detroit, their son and wife from Peoria and other friends and relatives from Indiana, Pekin, Carlock and Bloomington attended the last rites.

Edward married Jennie (Jesse) McKinney, daughter of James D.
