From a copy from a book sent to me from Terry R. Hitch of Wheaton, Illinois. It states that "Peter Hitch landed with his family at New Orleans on February 6, 1849, aboard the ship, Jane H. Glidden, from Liverpool. The ship's passenger list included: Peter Hitch, 22, laborer; Elizabeth Hitch, 44 (his mother whose maiden name was Skeels); Elizabeth Hitch, 20 (sister); Jane Hitch, 16; Martha Hitch, 10; George Hitch, 8; Thomas Hitch, 6; John Hitch, 4."
Peter married Mary Ann (Abigail) McCutchan, daughter of Samuel B. McCutchan and Sarah B. (?), on 12 Feb 1852 in Vanderburgh Co., IN.1 (Mary Ann (Abigail) McCutchan was born on 04 Apr 1830 in NY 6 7 8 9 and died on 23 Oct 1894 in IN 6.)
