Carolyn H. Sumner, 69, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, August 13 (2007), at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
Funeral services will be held 4 P.M., Wednesday, August 15, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Tom Camp and Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sumner was born January 24, 1938, in Fitzgerald, to the late Charles J. and Grace Davis Hitch. She was a 1955 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Ben Hill-Irwin Tech studying secretarial science. She was a homemaker and a secretary for Kelly's Tire Service.
She is survived by her husband: Kelly Sumner of Rochelle; two daughters: Sandie (Dennis) Bryant of Fitzgerald and Tammy Yeargin of Fitzgerald; two sons: Kevin Sumner and Jason Sumner, both of Rochelle; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Hazel Webb of Byron and Lois McKie of Abbeville. She was preceded in death by a grandson: Christopher Yeargin and one brother: Clyde Hitch.
Carolyn married Ellis Kelly Sumner, son of Daniel Thelma Sumner and Annie Lois Kelley. (Ellis Kelly Sumner was born on 25 Aug 1935, died on 18 Feb 2009 in GA and was buried about 21 Feb 2009 in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill Co., GA.)
